ACTT RESOURCES

LEGAL RESOURCES
The Black Birthing Bill of Rights is a resource for every Black person that engages in maternity and perinatal care. We want each Black woman and birthing person to know their rights and to have the tools to confidently exercise these rights. The Bill of Rights also serves as guidance for government programs, hospitals, maternity providers and others as they transform their policies, procedures, and practices to meet the needs of Black birthing people.
Birth Monopoly is committed to advancing the human right of each birthing person to determine how, where, and with whom they give birth.
Elephant Circle brings an intersectional, feminist, reproductive justice, design thinking approach to birth justice.
This approach will help manifest solutions every step of the way that do not re-inscribe status-quo power dynamics – making true transformation possible.
If, When, How
“We are lawyers and advocates who believe that everyone should be able to determine if, when, and how to build their families without barriers or punishment.” – If, When, How

ACTT empowers patients to participate in the informed consent process, and to voice their values and preferences when making decisions about their pregnancy and birth. The ACTT Curriculum is based on guidance from ACOG and the Joint Commission. On behalf of your patient, an ACTT participant, I thank you in advance for your professional service and person-centered care. BEING INFORMED
Our mission is to help birth workers build the evidence based knowledge, skills, and power they need to protect families’ abilities to give birth with empowerment. The work we do goes on to impact families who are searching for accurate information to empower their prenatal, birth, and postpartum experiences! Our mission-based programs benefit birth workers because we provide education on research, mentorship in how to navigate a broken health care system, and the confidence to be a change agent working for anti-racist and inclusive health care.” |
A decision aid for people with pregnancies at or beyond 39 weeks with no medical reason for labor induction This decision aid should be used by pregnant people who have no medical reason for induction and their medical providers. In testing it worked best for a medical provider to give their pregnant patient a paper copy of the decision aid and discuss the decision some time between 36 and 39 weeks, depending on the preferences and values of the pregnant person. The team of medical providers and public health professionals who created the tool made a one page application guide for other institutions. It can be accessed here. This guide includes how to use the paper version. A new guide that includes web implementation is coming soon! |
